Are you using an OEM Samsung charger that is plugged into a wall outlet, or a tertiary-party charger/USB charging connection? The crimson 'x' charging indicator can be caused by not using an official charger. Every bit for thinking information technology'due south charging when not plugged in and strange bombardment beliefs, that may signal a problem with the charging port, power circuits, or the battery itself.

Usually, if the ruby "Ten" appears on the battery icon the tab is charged at a lower Amp. An example is when you attach it to the USB port of your calculator. The lightning bolt appears when the charge Amp rating is correct, this is the example when plugging/using the wall charger to charge your tab. Both methods can accuse your bombardment merely the "red X" charging takes a lot longer. If you see both at the aforementioned time, maybe its time to caput down to your Samsung repair store.

Anim@l may be right. It's possible that the tablet think's it'southward charging at a slower rate or with an improper charger because of damage to the charging cable or to the charging port. Commencement, I would endeavor charging with a completely dissimilar official Samsung charger. If that works, y'all know that the charger was the trouble. If it still doesn't piece of work, it may exist a problem with the tablet'south charging port, and you may accept to accept it fixed.
Make certain in that location isn't whatsoever debris in the charging port on the tablet. If y'all tin can get your hands on 1 of those compressed air dusters, they work wonders for clearing out ports.

Update:
I bought a PowerBank a couple of weeks ago for my to power upward my devices. It comes with the cable and adapters so it fits my Annotation 2 and Tab plus.
I used the same cablevision to accuse my devices in the function using my laptop.
The red "X" does not appear anymore not like when I used to employ the cablevision from the OEM charger.
But the drawback is the cablevision is not for information because I could non access my device when it connected to the laptop.
With this in listen, I used the third party cable for charging and the OEM cable for data admission.

I just bought a samsung milky way tab 2 seven.0 today and at first it was taking a perfect charge and then my wife plugged the string into a usb splitter hooked into the oem outlet charger, in hopes to charge both my new galaxy tab and her ipad at the same fourth dimension...
didn't audio similar too bad of an idea at kickoff, just equally I'm certain y'all can judge, information technology was. Now there'southward a cherry-red X over the bombardment when charging, and it says that the device is not charging, but it is, just veeeeery slowly...
I'm hoping dearly that it's just the cablevision that got "burnt", but I'1000 expecting the worst. Tin can anybody please fill me in on any more information as to my trouble, and more importantly, the solution? Thank you guys. Be nice, I'm a noob

Try charging your tab2 with its OEM charger.
If the red "X" however appears, without disconnecting it from the OEM charger, restart your tab2 and hopefully the cerise "X" volition disappear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually was able to resolve this problem myself thankfully!
Well, I had idea that I had been using an OEM tab 2 charger, but later on I checked into it a fiddling bit, I figured out they what I had received when buying the tab (2d hand) was in fact the OEM wall plug for a Samsung galaxy s3 smartphone. Turns out they are amped totally different. I went to the local att store and looked at the voltage/watts/amps of all the usb wall chargers until I found i with the exact same specs, and bought information technology, roughly $thirty. I didn't take the highest of hopes just I took it dwelling and plugged it in, to my amazement, no more red 10 while charging! Hooray! Talk near major relief... Promise my postal service can aid someone else, this seems to be a pretty popular problem.

Glad to hear you got it solved.
Anyways, it would have been a very low charger mA you accept in that location.
Sometimes, I charge my P6200 using my powerbank port with 500mA and the red "X" will not announced.
Charging is wearisome though but at least I wont run out of juice while I dont accept a wall outlet to plug into.

I had the same problem with the OEM adapter until I notice that the tablet USB cord was not pushed in ii: the ability plug that plugs into the wall all the way. if you stick the USB halfway into the power plug that plugs into the wall information technology will give you the red Ten. just unplug it from the wall and so push the USB all the way in to the plug then plug it dorsum upward to the wall it will charge Fine.

Hello all,
While researching the "Ruby X" ability icon on the Galaxy Tab 2, I came across the Samsung Milky way Tab 2 7.0 User Manual on the Samsung Web site. Co-ordinate to this 141 folio manual, the red X power icon is the "USB Charging Indicator: Connected to PC via USB cable. When continued to a PC, the battery only charges when the device is turned off." (That'south a direct quote from page 21 of the transmission.) Also, the half-dark-green battery icon with the lightening bolt simply shows that the bombardment is charging. Then, I don't think you will always run across the lightening bolt while the tab is continued to a PC.
This verifies my observation where the Tab two would not accuse when connected to a PC if the tab is powered on. In fact, leaving it on depletes the battery, just similar when it'south not PC-connected. When it is turned off however, information technology charges normally, and seems to charge fairly quickly.
Here's a link to the the folio where you can get to the User Transmission PDF:

I hope this sheds some low-cal.

Jim Q, that would be great, but the red x appears for us when nosotros utilize our mill provided wall chargers. Lovely right? I'thousand going to reach out to Samsung because this is quite frustrating and ridiculous; both of my kids tablets are doing this and they are less than 1 year old (that is the tablets)!

Someone told me to ability off my Samsung Tab 2 10.1 then plug it into the wall, and so to the device so turn the ability back on. No more Red 10! Hope this helps.

we had the red x problem for months with one of our samsung milky way 2 tabs.
had to rely on one cable for ii identical tabs in the house.
eventually I cleaned both ends of usb cable with alcohol and toothbrush waited till dry then plugged into wall adaptor and tab.
it seems the connexion was a bit dingy, ours works fine now.
if y'all still want to replace the cablevision
purchase a replacement Samsung Galaxy 2 Tablet USB Cable: ECC1DP0UBECSTD
good luck
